Below you will find the general rental policies that apply to most cars listed on DriveMe Porto. Please note that specific terms may vary depending on the selected vehicle and rental supplier. Always review the conditions shown on the car details page during booking.
Driver Requirements
The main driver must present a valid driving license and passport or national ID. Most rental companies in Porto require drivers to be at least 21 years old. Some vehicle categories may require a higher minimum age or additional driving experience. Young driver fees may apply for drivers under 25.
Payment and Deposit
Many local suppliers offer car hire with No Deposit and No Credit Card. When a deposit is required, it may be paid by debit card or occasionally in cash, depending on the company. The payment method accepted for your rental will be clearly displayed next to the vehicle before booking. Virtual cards and digital wallet payments are not always supported.
Insurance Coverage
All rentals include basic insurance as required by Portuguese law. Some cars include extended coverage that reduces or removes the excess. Optional insurance upgrades may be available at the rental desk. Please check what is included to avoid misunderstandings. Damage to tires, glass, undercarriage, and interior may not be included unless a full protection package is selected.
Fuel Policy
The fuel policy varies by supplier. The most common option is Full to Full, meaning you return the car with the same amount of fuel as when collected. Other policies will be shown on the car details page. Always keep fuel receipts if required by the rental company.
Mileage
Most rentals in Porto offer unlimited mileage. However, some vehicles may have mileage limits, especially for budget or long-term rentals. If mileage is limited, the allowance and any extra charges will be displayed before booking.
Pickup and Return
Cars can be collected at Porto Airport or at designated city locations. Please return the vehicle at the agreed time to avoid late return fees. If you need to extend your rental, contact the supplier as soon as possible. Returning the car without informing the company may result in additional charges.
Cross-Border Travel
Traveling outside Portugal may be restricted unless pre-approved by the rental company. Additional insurance or documentation may be required. Always confirm before driving into Spain or other neighboring regions.
Cleanliness and Condition
The vehicle should be returned in similar condition to how it was received. Excessive dirt, smoking inside the car, or damage to the interior may result in cleaning or repair fees.
